Lifelong Learning

I do mean lifelong learning.  I have spent the vast majority of my life attached to schools of some sort, and most of that time working on learning something.  I have so far received four degrees in four different subjects:

B.A. in Classical & Medieval Studies (1997)

Minor in Physics

Minor in Mathematics

M.A. in Linguistics (1999)

M.S. in Mathematics (Applied) (2002)

M.S. in Management Information Systems (MIS) (2003)

Doctoral Study in Mathematics (2002-2004)

I also have a certificate in Mixology (2002).

But, I'm nowhere close to being finished! :)  I love learning, and my favourite subject by far is Astronomy, so in January, I am starting back to school to get a B.S. in that (estimated completion date is 2013). I'm also likely to get at least a minor in Greek, and a major in Philosophy.  Astronomy is the clear priority, and whether the others get finished will depend on scheduling, but once I get into the graduate level in Astronomy again, I won't be able to indulge these other topics, so I will take advantage while I can.  What I've wanted all my life, though, is my Ph.D. in Astronomy, and while I've been detoured a bit, I refuse to concede defeat on that score.

Some people do accuse me of being a know-it-all.  But, I assure you, there are plenty of things I don't know much about... art appreciation really escapes me, as does economics. :)  Call me a Renaissance woman (though, I doubt there were any women in Renaissance like me, or call me a polymath (which I prefer), but one thing I can't be accused of is a lack of curiosity!

In addition to the information on subjects of special academic interest, you can find information on schools I've attended (for schools I've worked at, or am working at now, see my teaching portfolio).

There is one other topic of importance to me that might eventually get added to this academic list... a degree (probably a masters) in gifted education.  But, we have to have priorities.
