Anthropological Linguistics

Anthropological Linguistics addresses the relationship between language and culture.  Anthropological linguistics is closely related to sociolinguisticslanguage acquisition and biology; there is, in fact, a great deal of overlap.  The emphasis of anthropological linguistics tends to be on non-Western languages, particularly American Indian languages, and other aboriginal languages in Australia, Australasia and Africa, mostly because these are the regions of the world where Anthropology tends to focus.
